Unreal Technology

I started to teach myself the Unreal Technology (UnrealEd, UnrealScript...).
I think it will be useful in future. Its easy to learn and it makes fun to do stuff in the editor. Im playing Red Orchestra (winner of the "Make Something Unreal Contest 2004") since it is avaible on steam. Darkest Hour (a new mod for RO) is out now and I love to play it, because it covers the battles of the Western Front, which I like more than the russian battles. That mod got my interest for UnrealEd. I thought: "Hey! Why not making maps for it!?" More details coming! :)

Natural Selection 1+2

There is a mod called Natural Selection for Half-Life. The story is simple: MARINES with commander versus ALIENS, that can evolve into other lifeforms. In my opinion, that mod has one of the best gameplay experience. It mixes ego-shooter with strategy elements in a very cool way.
Its so fun, that I still play it since 2001, I think. Somehow I felt like posting about that mod.

Natural Selection 2 is in development, too. The mod team will release that sweet game with their own cool engine retail and with new exciting gameplay ideas. Anyone who is interested should check their site:

Music For The Brain

I keep listening to music, when I work on some game related things. That keeps my brain clear from other stuff and I get some energy, that I convert to something productive. My favs are House or good Soundtracks at drawing, dont know why... What do you listen to? Or do you need silence??

Im getting into DirectX finally. Its not that hard as I thought and there are many online tutorials. But I think nothing can beat a good book, that covers much more techniques.

List For Resources

Today I thought about, how to organize resources, that has to be in a game later. For example: art, textures, sprites/billboards, models, concept arts/backgrounds...

What would be the more logical workout: To make a detailed list with numbers, like for example - "We need 30 buildings, lets make 30 textures and 30 models!" - or more like make enough amount of stuff and sort it later. I like the idea, to do a catalog, also. What do you think?

OK, about 2 weeks ago I got my Wacom Intuos3 Grafics Tablet. I can finally start making game resources for a good game idea. I browsed some sites and tutorials and finally got to "idrawgirls" from where I learned a lot about making some good quality art. And in the community there are very talented artists, too, from which you can get inspirations and some tips.
